These videos and information pertain to the poets of Cross-Cultural Communications, Inc. and the event held on 9/11/05 at the Russian Samovar Restaurant in Manhattan, NY. The readings lasted 7 hours, and featured poets of many cultures. Of special importance were the readings in about 25 languages of the signature poem of Stanley Kunitz (who died on 5/14/2006 at age 100) called "The Layers" which are included on the website page accessible by clicking below, along with contact info. This video of Stanley Kunitz was taken by Frank Sisco in the presence of Stanley H. Barkan and Genine Lentine on 2/20/2006 in Stanley Kunitz' apartment in the West Village of New York City. The video is alson included on a special DVD entitled "Stanley Kunits: A Poet for All Peoples" along with 24 multilingual readings from a 7-hour poetry event on 9/11/05 in celebration of the 35th Anniv ersary of Cross-Cultural Communicaitons, held at the Russian Samovar in New York City. These videos and information pertain to the The Poetry Caravan, which was founded in 2003 by Usha Akella with the assistance from the Greenburgh Arts and Culture Committe. The mission of the Poetry Caravan is to bring poets and poetry to people in our community who cannot reach poetry on their own. It provides a platform for poets to showcase their talents while fostering a sense of community in poets and audiences. Caravan poets regularly visit the Esplanade, Sprain Brook Manor Nursing Home, the Ruth Taylor Care Center, Burke Rehabilitation Center, Osbourne Home, and Westchester Meadows. Other Poetry Caravan sites have included Grace Church Samaritan House, the Women's Residence/YWCA, Greenburgh Alcohol Treatment Center, and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Macy Pavilion.
