Poets at Playland Party

FREE EVENT ! Dance under the stars with the moon shimmering off the water! Join a social gathering of poets, writers and friends for an evening filled with music, dancing and poetry on the boardwalk at beautiful Playland Amusement Park in Rye, NY! Enjoy the Milton Gerver Orchestra, entertaining there for the past 25 years, a 15-piece big-band-sound orchestra and vocalists who will play favorites from Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Tito Puente, etc.

 
 

Agenda

6:00 sharp until 7:15pm - The first short set of open-mic poetry readings, outside on the boardwalk.

7:30pm until 11pm, the Milton Gerver Orchestra entertains. At about 9:00pm there is a spectacular fireworks display over the water.

11:15pm until whenever - The second set of poetry readings will continue for as long as we want.

 
  Food and drinks and what to bring- Wear your dancing shoes and bring a sweater or a jacket, especially if you stay late. Bring folding chairs and tables in case we need more. There are fast-food restaurants with reasonable prices and good food. Or you can bring your own prepared food and drinks.  
  The rain date is Friday, July 29th. If called off due to rain, notice will be posted on www.VideosOfPoets.com by 2pm on July 22nd.  
  Videotaping - Frank Sisco will videotape readings by poets who give permission. Frank will post the videos to the website www.VideosOfPoets.com so you can later share them with family and friends (no charge).  
  Registration - If you are going to read, you must preregister by phone or by email with the following info: your name, town, phone number, email and number of guests.
